About West Coast Biltong

West Coast Biltong crafts it's wares in the heart of California's Central Valley, where the air is dry and hot.

Our founder, Reg Woolston, hails from the coastal city of Cape Town, all the way from the sunny South African west coast. He's been a serial entrepreneur all his adult life. However, it was only when he settled in Bakersfield, California that he realized the one thing he truly missed most of all from his days in Africa, other than his love of rugby, cricket and a good old braai, was Biltong. All he needed was a push, and it came in the form of being introduced to a truly magnificent ladies water polo team at CSU Bakersfield and their captain, who also hailed from South Africa. And so, the fledgling West Coast Biltong was born. After the first batch in April of 2016, it was clear that America needed to experience it too.

With the help of his wife and partner the journey was started. It would lead the two of them through many impassable mountains and some really low valleys, but, after nearly 5 years, together, they now bring you what we consider to be our signature range of flavors. A word of caution however, our Biltong is full bodied and infused with passion and some mystery, it's flavors will tantalize, tease and tickle your taste buds.
